Subj: RE: Advanced Certificate in Powder Diffraction on the Web
Dear Kennedy Miller,
From your email comments, I think that I obviously need to make the web pages
for the powder diffraction course clearer!
All our Internet courses share a common feature: they do not require the
students to attend Birkbeck. For those wishing to do the final examination,
they can take it any local university worldwide (that is recognised by
Birkbeck). No practical work lab work is required since we supply all the
powder data that will be required. I guess I should make this clearer.
What sort of details were you after in particular? The aim is for the
course to cover all aspects of powder diffraction, though I admit there
is bound to be a bias towards the things that Prof. Barnes, Dr. Attfield,
and myself specialize in, i.e. applied and structural crystallography.
The level of the course is aimed at first year PhD students who will
be using powder diffraction in one way or another for their reaserach
projects.
Thanks for your enquiry,
Kind regards,
Jeremy Karl Cockcroft.
