Dear Nikos,
Many thanks for the kind comments. I have to admit that it can be difficult
to balance all of my commitments at times. The first year of the PD course
was very difficult indeed since much of the material was being written as
the course ran, but Paul and I managed to survive the first year, just!
To answer your question:
>On question no 2 you state: "..with two examples in symbol format...". What
>exactly do you mean? I am preparing an answer of the style: 2 + -1 -> 2/m ,
>refering to change in coordinates... am I going ok or am I completely out of
>scope?
I simply meant what you have written above, i.e. 2/m. Sorry if the question
seemed confusing, but one year somebody gave a very long answer in words
instead of simply writing down an appropriate point-group symbol.
I have a longer answer to your previous question (which related to some of
the material by Paul Barnes) - I will email that after this one.
Sorry for the slow reply - I have been having a tooth problem (abscess)
for some days. The dentist was unable to locate the exact tooth on Monday, but
by Wednesday it had become so bad I could hardly do any work. Yesterday, the
dentist was able to operate on the correct tooth I am glad to say!
With best wishes,
Jeremy Karl.
