Web Page Updates

The following is a list of new or significantly improved web pages. Web pages are not listed when the updates are only minor changes of grammar, spelling, etc.

Public Course Documentation: the following pages were extensively revised to make downloading and printing easier for prospective students. The structure was simplified and sub-pages were removed where possible. As a result, content duplication in various pages was deleted.
Course Details
Enrolment

Instrumentation I: Laboratory

New web pages:
Mirrors
Step Size
Manufacturers

Instrumentation II: Synchrotron

New web pages:
Ultra-High-Resolution Angle-Dispersive Data

Future Pages?
Include photographs of actual instruments e.g. BM16/ID31, 2.3, 16.4, etc.

Diffraction II: From Structure Factors to Diffraction Intensities

This section was restructured so as to remove the NaCL assignment from the text and to remove the temperature factor from the so-called correction factors.

Updated web pages:
Polarisation, P
Added a section on monochromator polarisation

Future Pages?
Ideally the temperature factor should be included in the previous section (Diffraction I). In addition, the section should be updated with a page on preferred orientation corrections, plus factors that go into the scale factor e.g. wavelength.

Symmetry II: Point Groups

Updated web pages:
Crystallographic Point Groups
Added a section on nomenclature

Symmetry III: Space Groups

New web pages:
Centred Space Groups
Clickable Space Group C2/c

Future Pages?
Space-Group Symmetry Operators

Qualitative Analysis

New web pages:
Current and Future Developments

Indexing

New web pages:
Monte Carlo Methods

Peak Shapes

Updated web pages:
The Concept of Peak Shape (improved figures by showing data points)

Modern Techniques & Methods I

Updated web pages:
The Concept of Peak Shape (added photograph plus figure showing data from RAPID2)

Structure Solution

New web pages:
Table of structures solved with method
TO DO!!

Rietveld III: Refinement in Practice

New web pages:
More example pages of what to do, e.g.
Conversion of B to U, or to anisotropic
How to calculate bond lengths and angles with Rietica
TO DO!!
