Questions to Indexing
1...."Thus a solution with double the unit-cell volume will have twice as many hkl values and double the probability of indexing a line by chance."... This formulation seems to me a little bit confusing. I think that the number of reflections of a particular substance is still the same, without any depency on which unit cell we used for the description of its structure. Or I would say that if the number of hkl would be doubled, then the probability of indexing a line by chance would be two times smaller.

2. It seems to me that not all symbols used in the equation for M20 are explained. Which meaning has Q20(obs) ?

3. I miss the link to that Q value used in scattering theory. I did not find any other Q value through the course.

4. Ad successive dichotomy method. Generaly, I must say, I do not understand the principle of this method in such a way, so as to be able to start indexing using a program. Anyway, ..."All of the input lines must lie within (only? J.B.) one of these Q ranges, but with no more than one line per range."... It holds also for the start of indexing, or only for the end? Because in the Figures just bellow, the reflections form the middle fall into many Q ranges.

5. 1. ..."A zone is a plane in reciprocal space passing through the origin. In general 3 points in space are required to uniquely define a plane, but for a zone plane only 2 act as variable parameters, since the third point is fixed at the origin."... In my textbook the term "zone" is reserved for the group of crystallographic planes in real space which have a common direction (this direction is called zone axis, and it is parallel with the intersection of these zone planes). Is there any connection between both meanings? If your zone is a plane in reciprocal space, then its equivalent in real space is a line ...

6. You quoted the sentence without explaining why the use of Debye-Scherrer camera is especially disadvantageous. I thought that the Debye-Scherrer camera is offen use for assessment of e.g. lattice parameters.

7. I am not able to follow the logic of the arguments. This is my general feeling. I have been rarely able to unerdstand the reasons staying behind the text. I accept mostly the text as a group of mere facts, I did not feel to be able to use them somehow in a creative manner. Is it enough for this case, or shall I do the reading harder?
