Jerermy,

I am suspicious about whether our external e-mails are getting to the
intended recipients.

Could you e-mail me back to confirm that you have received this.

Thanks

Mark Farnworth

Dear PD00 Student,
The second of the lectures on symmetry is now available. Please read the
release notes since they discuss how much you need to know about the
subject of point group symmetry - the tables are usually exhaustive, but you
are not expected to remember the whole lot!
           http://pd.cryst.bbk.ac.uk/pd00/relnotes/rel08.htm
This section has many concepts that may be new to you. I expect them to
take
a while to sink in. For this reason we allow two weeks in the timetable with

this lecture so that you have more time for the concepts to sink in.
Please feel free to send me questions on this subject, or better still
send them out for general discussion to pd00list@img.cryst.bbk.ac.uk. I
realize that it is often less embarrassing to send questions directly to the
tutors, but your fellow students may also be timid about asking the same
question and may find the question and answer useful to them too.
  Happy reading,
         Jeremy Karl Cockcroft
