Jeremy,
Thanks for a speedy reply. Before I divulge further I should
probably explain my "computer access" situation. Due to the nature of my
work (Atomic Weapons Est.) there is a firewall between my office computer
and the outside world. If I send external Email it will go to a central Hub
where it will be quarantined (checked out for anything unruly) for up to an
hour before being sent to its intended recipient. Incoming Emails are
treated the same way - they go onto a central Hub to be checked for viruses
etc. before being passed on. Any dialogue between us over Email would take
at least 2 hours in an ask/reply situation and a middle-man is involved.
Access to the PD course is carried out on central computers, which are not
on the inTRAnet, outwith the firewall. As access is limited (due to the v.
small numbers of these computers) I tend to logon to these computers and
print out each release. This way I can peruse the material when I have spare
time during the day (rare) or in the evenings. I have internet access on my
home computer so when necessary I usually follow links then. (A very long
winded explanation - I do apologise.) I new this would be the case prior to
enrolling to the course but I thought I should explain why I cannot reply
immediately to your Emails
As I won't be able to get back on to a work computer tonight I will try
again when I get home, but if I remember correctly, when I used the ""'s the
page came up with " incorrect address try refresh etc." whereas if I left
the ""'s out I was bombarded with the continual Username and Password
request. I will send more details tomorrow.
In the mean time, with respect to assignment 2, I am not sure about the
correct nomenclature to use when expressing the symmetry elements. For
example Q5(i) Symmetry operator -x y -z. The symmetry element would be a
2-fold rotation about the y axis. Is the answer simply stated in words (as
shown) or are diagrams required?
Thanks again. Cheers,
Fraser
