Proposal for Course Amendment 2001/2
13 March 2001 School of Crystallography, Birkbeck College, University of London |
Comment
Following comments by the QAA panel visit in February 2000, it was decided that the final mark for the Advanced Certificate in Powder Diffraction using the Internet should be standardised with that of the Advanced Certificate in Protein Crystallography. The initial proposal to the college was based on the following weighting scheme: unseen written examination paper 50%, project 35%, and coursework 15%. The proposed change is as follows: unseen written examination paper 50% (unchanged), project 30%, and coursework 20%. The increase in the coursework percentage is appropriate given that the number of coursework assignments for 2000/2001 has already been increased with respect to the first year in which the course was run (1999/2000).
